Leon was the first to grow Cabernet Sauvignon in Spain and his Penedes vineyards produce wines of extraordinary character. These Gran Riservas are produced in only the very best vintages and Catalan artists are commissioned to produce the labels which differ with each vintage. The vertical consists of two each of the 1994, 2000 and 2001 vintage all packed in a wood case. A truly unique gift for $269.95.

Tasty, Virginia’s Finest, all natural, no preservatives added cheese straws where the first ingredient is actually cheese. They are locally made by Peggy Crowley (and her two sisters). We are offering the clear plastic container, regular or Jalapeno flavored at $9.95 and the medium gift tin at $14.95

Sea Smoke Ten: World Class Pinot Noir form California’s Santa Rita Hills
Previously available only to a select few on a long closed mailing list , we have secured one of the first cases to make its way into Virginia.  This would make a wonderful gift for anyone that loves Pinot Noir. Quantities are extremely limited.  $99.95
“Opaque ruby. Pungent, expressive bouquet offers dark berry compote, cola, vanilla bean and incense qualities, along with slow-building spiciness and notes of clove and mocha. Lush, palate-coating blackberry and mulberry flavors are lifted by gentle acidity and complicated by notes of spicecake and candied violet. Tannins build with air and carry through a very long, sweet, oak-spicy finish. This is a baby.” (IWC Nov/Dec 11)

A GIFT OF GREAT BEER
You may not be aware that we carry an extensive number of Craft beers. Here are a few gift suggestions:
Duvel MAGNUM - $44.95
Ommegang – a bottle of Hennipin, Three Philosophers and Gnomegang; plus the correct glass all nicely packaged and ready to wrap:  $26.95
Chimay –  3 pack (one Red, one Tripel and one Blue) plus a Chimay glass - $20.95

ROBERT FOLEY 04 and 05 Claret.
Bob was nice enough to autograph these bottles when he last visited the store and a signed bottle of these iconic wines would make a great Christmas gift.  $134.95 each.

Magnums and Jeroboams
Every Christmas for the last 10 years or so we open a magnum (1.5 liter) with our Christmas tenderloin. Wine ages better in larger formats and seems, to me, to taste better. We offer a good selection of well made wines in this format at reasonable prices. Here are two spectacular Spanish wines that would be perfect with beef and especially with Lamb:
2009 Bodegas Y Vinedos Maurodos Prima – A Tinta de Toro and Garnacha blend aged for 12 months in seasoned French oak prior to bottling without filtration. Earthy, and ripe. Magnum (1.5 liter) for $44.95 or Jerobaom (3 liter) for $99.95. Both the magnum and the Jeroboam come with their own wood case!
2001 R. Lopez De Heredia Vina Tondonia Reserva – Old school Rioja with cherry fruit, earth and vanilla and ready to drink. Magnum $119.95
If Spanish wines are not to your palate we carry many other new world and old world large format bottles.

VINTAGE PORT
We still have a fair number of the 2000 vintage from Dow’s - $79.95/btl., Graham’s - $89.95/btl. and Magnums of 2000 Romariz - $74.95* and Warre’s - $134.95*. Imagine opening a magnum of Port at the end of your Holiday meal; a perfect ending. These are wines that have never been re-priced since originally purchased and thus are available at reasonable prices – considering they are aged and ready to drink. (*During December you may take an additional 15% off of a purchase of a Magnum of Vintage Port!)

BORDEAUX
We are very excited that we have begun to receive some of our pre-orders from the much heralded 2009 vintage and they will make great wine gifts for future enjoyment.
Ch Tour Des Termes, St. Estephe - $41.95
Ch La Tour De Mons, Margaux - $32.95
Ch Godeau, St.- Emilion Grand Cru -  $38.95
However, for this Christmas you will want to have a wine with a bit of bottle age. Here are three gems:
2000 Ch. Cap De Faugeres, Cotes-de-Castillon,-  a great year just starting to hit its stride, textbook Bordeaux-  $29.95
2005 Ch. Magneau, Graves –  the other great year and the big boys are too young but this wine is ready now. $19.95
2002 Ch Gueyrosse, St-Emilion Grand Cru – mostly Merlot, medium bodied, mature and friendly. $26.95

ITALIAN ROSSO
Matt is crazy about Italian wines, so much so that we often buy more wine then will fit on the shelf. This means we have a most extensive offering of World Class Brunello, Barolo, Barbaresco, including mature vintages of Barolo, or maybe you want to try something spectacular and a bit different:
From Campania: 2005 Mastroberardino “Radici” Taurasi – 100% Aglianico, structured but elegant; powerful with finesse; cherries and spice;  perfect with lamb at Del Posto.  $64.95
From Sardinia: 2007 Argiolas Isola dei Nuraghi Korem – “ …Sweet candied cherries, flowers and spices emerge from this rich, textured wine. With time in the glass the inner perfume emerges, adding further layers of complexity. Scents of chocolate, mocha and spices linger on the inviting finish. This is another beautiful, impeccable wine from Argiolas.”  (WA #189) Each of our bottles was signed by Antonio during his last visit.  $52.95

CORKCICLE
Perfectly chilled wine every time. You put the Corkcicle in the freezer, take it out after you have opened the wine and place the Corcsicle in the bottle (pour out a bit of wine first). It seems stunningly stupid and we very badly wanted it not to work but now we have abandoned the wine bucket for the ‘sicle.  A perfect stocking stuffer.  $22.95

Our own Emerson Chocolate Port Truffles and Port soaked Cherries and Bark: 5.95 each
