UNCORKED WINE SCHOOL – JUNE Uncorked Classes
• Debut of our German Series: All Quiet on the Riesling Front w/ Tucker Flythe: The Mosel Chapter 1
German and Austrian wines are finally starting to get the international attention they deserve. The Mosel is one of the most famous wine regions and we have decided to start with a three part series covering it. These classes are cumulative, so you would get the most out of it by going to all three. That said, there will be a brief recap at the start of each one, so feel free to come to as many as you like. We are very excited for this new series and if you have not yet been converted to the cult of Riesling, then you owe it to yourself to check this out and be cured of your ignorance. Come enjoy 6 wines, cheese plates, and more while getting a fun lesson on one of Germany’s most interesting wine regions!
Thursday, June 12th @ 6-7:30 pm $55
• Big Trouble in Little Iberia, The Portuguese Plot: What’s that DÃO all about?
Our Iberian series has been the hidden gem of our Uncorked classes. We had not anticipated that Jeff would be such a phenomenal cook and his food has been a pleasant surprise. The wines have been eye-opening as well, offering excellent quality at reasonable prices. We are now moving to one of the the most well-known Portuguese regions: the Dão. Enjoy 8 wines, cheese plates, and more while getting a fun lesson on Portugal’s oldest wine region!
Thursday, June 19thth @ 6-7:30pm $65
• Tasting like a Somm: Exploring Minerality w/ Advanced Sommelier Sam Stronach
Our second class in our Tasting like a Somm series exploring minerality in wine. This is a topic wine geeks love discussing and anyone who wants to understand wine would do well to attend this class. Sam Stronach is the Wine Director at Buckhead’s Restaurant and is one of the only Advanced Sommelier’s in the Richmond area. He is also a very humble guy who can make complex topics seem simple and make wine approachable for everyone. Come enjoy 6 great wines with cheese plates and more while getting a great lesson from one of the best in the business.
Monday, June 30th @ 6-7:30 pm $55

FATHER’S DAY GIFT SPECIAL OFFERS – A Few Classics! (No further discounts)
From an iconic winery and as close (literally) to Châteauneuf-du-Pape as you can get!
2021 Chateau de Beaucastel Cotes du Rhone Coudoulet de Beaucastel Rhone, France - “A terrific vintage for this wine, which was bottled just a couple of weeks prior to my late June visit, the 2021 Cotes du Rhone Coudoulet de Beaucastel is a blend of 30% each Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah, plus 10% Cinsault. From a vineyard just outside the boundaries of the appellation of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, it’s a remarkably consistent wine and always a solid value. Scents of sunbaked stones, black cherries and licorice appear on the nose, joined by hints of purple raspberries and dark chocolate, while the medium to full-bodied palate is lush and velvety, finishing long and complex.” (RP) Regular price: $38.99, On sale in JUNE: $29.99 (limit 2 per customer)
Drinking beautifully after six years in the cellar!
2017 Roccolo Grassi Valpolicella Superiore Veneto, Italy- “The 2017 Valpolicella Superiore by Roccolo Grassi is a sleeping giant. It slowly awakens in the glass with a dark mix of herbal-tinged plums, cracked ashen stone, incense and dried flowers. This is silky verging on velvety, with a core of stimulating acidity that helps to enliven depths of ripe mineral-inflected red and black fruits as inner violet orals collect toward the close. The 2017 boasts a lovely inner sweetness to counterbalance the fine-grained tannins and primary concentration, as it finishes youthfully structured, leaving a hint of salted licorice to linger. The warmth of the vintage has added an extra dimension to the fruit here, yet some cellaring is still recommended to allow its aromatics to come fully into focus.” (Vinous) Regular price: $41.99, On sale in JUNE: $31.99
Dad will love a Cru Barolo from a great vintage! (Limit 1 per customer.)
2019 Renato Ratti Serradenari Barolo DOCG, Italy – (100% Nebbiolo) “Here’s an exciting new submission from the house of Ratti. Serradenari is a large MGA and one of only a few cru sites that exist on the western slope under the village of La Morra. The 2019 Barolo Serradenari has a more botanical-smelling bouquet, and by that I mean that it has lavender bud, thyme, aniseed and the kinds of flowers and herbs that you might find in a fragrant garden. It is nuanced and delicate and framed by a light note of ash or crushed limestone. It finishes quite firm or edgy. Only 6,000 bottles were made.” (RP) Regular price: $154.99, On sale in JUNE: $104.99
Classic Bordeaux makes a great gift even better when it’s #45 on the Wine Spectator top 100!
2022 Chateau du Retout Haut-Médoc , France – “A blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot, the 2022 du Retout reveals an elegantly reduced, vibrant bouquet of dark berries, cassis, spices and bay leaf. Medium to full-bodied, enrobing and charming, it’s supple and round for a Médoc with delicate, velvety tannins and a long, fruity finish. It should age gracefully over the next decade.” (RP)
Regular price: $32.99, On sale in JUNE: $23.99 (Limit 1 per customer.)
JUNE SPECIAL OFFER (No further discounts.)
Here is an affordable, funky, skin contact (orange), vegan and organic wine with no added sulfites!
2023 Chakana Singular Torrontes Maceracion Prolongada Gualtallary, Argentina – (100% Torrontés) “The 2023 Torrontés Macerado Singular, sourced from the Uco Valley, was skin soaked in concrete vats for nine months. It presents a cloudy yellow appearance in the glass, with cucumber, basil, peaches and various herbs. Dry and grippy on the palate, it showcases a taut mouthfeel attributed to its skin tannins. This is an orange wine with a free-spirited, hippie vibe.” (Vinous) Regular price: $25.99, On sale in JUNE: $17.99
Always a store favorite this organic white Burgundy is perfect for your roasted or fried picnic chicken!
2022 Domaine de la Croix Senaillet Macon Davaye Burgundy, France- Muted aromas of citrus, straw and stone fruit. Generous and ripe on the palate with notes of green apple finishing fresh and sleek with nice minerality. A good example of Macon Davaye. Regular price: $24.99, On sale in JUNE: $19.99
