NV Barbier-Louvet “Cuvee d’Ensemble”, Grand Cru Brut Champagne, France – (60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, with 40% reserve wines.) The grapes come from both Grand Crus of Louvois and Bouzy hence the “d’Ensemble”. Notes of apple and pear with hints of grapefruit. Generous and fleshy on the palate with baking spice, notes of honey and brioche. The finish is crisp and elegant. 2015 Gosset ‘Grand Millesime’ Brut Champagne, France- “The 2015 Brut Grand Millésime is terrific. Bright and intensely floral, the 2015 bristles with all the energy that is such a signature of the Gosset house style. White flowers, mint and crushed flowers open first. If I have a critique of Gosset is that the wines can be a bit austere. That is certainly not the issue here. The 2015 is distinguished by its sweet resonant mid palate and terrific depth. 2016 Lyeth Estate Meritage Sonoma County, USA  -A go to everyday staple in the store many years ago we literally found a couple of cases and it’s drinking nicely. 2003 Domaine Santa Duc Cairanne Les Buissons Rhone, France – We had the 2009 of this on sale in 2021 and we found a few cases of the 2003 and a couple of bottles of the 2001. Here is a Wine Enthusiast review from 2006: “Lots of spice—particularly anise, but also clove and cinnamon—with wonderfully supple tannins to carry the flavors through a long finish.
