Our October Tasting - HENRIOT

HENRIOT CHAMPAGNE / BOUCHARD BURGUNDY/ WILLIAM FEVRE CHABLIS
Wednesday October 14th from 5:30 to 7:30 at our store on Grove ave.
Special pricing will be available for wines purschased/orderd during the event.

This is a special treat for us as we welcome Patrick O’Byrne from Henriot and taste some wonderful wines from Champagne and Burgundy. Here are just some of the
wines we’ll be tasting:

2004 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis – Vaudésir Grand Cru White
“This is aromatically quite a bit riper with peach, pear and subtle exotic notes yet this remains extremely fresh while introducing spicy, rich and full flavors that display a bit of pain grillé and vanilla on the big, powerful and punchy finish that goes on and on seemingly without end. This possesses lots of personality and while the Valmur, for all its purity and grace makes for an understated effort, the Vaudésir is far more expressive, indeed showier though by no means vulgar or common. A completely different expression from the Les Clos and Valmur and in short, this is a real stunner of a wine.” Score: 94 Drink: 2011+  (Burghound Issue 24)

2005 Maison Bouchard Père et Fils Bourgogne Red
“This is quite ripe and more complex aromatically than one expects with delicious but serious and structured medium weight flavors and while it’s not elegant, it could easily pass for a villages level wine from one of the more generally rustic communes, such as Santenay, Chassagne or Maranges. Recommended and it will age.” Drink 2010+ Score: 86 Comments: Top value (Burghound Issue 26)

1998 HENRIOT Brut Rosé Champagne Millésimé
“Mature notes of dried cherry, spice and forest floor mingle with fresh citrus in this elegant, layered rosé. A subtle texture, with a firm spine and fine length. Drink now through 2010. 2,300 cases imported.” Score: 92 (Wine Spectator Issue: Dec 15, 2006)

HENRIOT Brut Chardonnay Champagne Blanc Souverain NV
Round and fruity, in a medium-bodied style, with peach, ginger and honey flavors. There’s a graphite edge, and the acidity keeps this lively and focused. Drink now. 1,600 cases imported. Score: 90 (Wine Spectator Issue: Oct 31, 2009)
